The first commercial use of RolaTube technology was for the inspection of the core of aging MAGNOX reactors in 1998. The programme was a huge success, cutting the time needed for inspections from 17 to 3 days and removing the need for expensive, custom transporters for the previous inspection systems. That same year, RTL was awarded British Energy’s Outstanding Achievement award for the inspection of the Advanced Gas Cooled Reactor at Hartlepool.

Since then, RTL has continued to supply systems to the Nuclear and HAZCHEM industries worldwide, simplifying and reducing the costs of inspection in hazardous and inaccessible environments.

Capable of being deployed at any angle, from vertically upwards and downwards systems to cantilever and adjustable booms to form reeled “crane” jibs, RolaTube technology can simplify and reduce the costs of many inspection tasks.

Current systems operate over distances of up to 22 metres, but there is no limit to the length that can be produced. Additionally, conductors and data lines can be embedded in the material, removing the complexity of separate umbilical feeds.
