Our People
As our applications are most often designed in collaboration with a third-party, we have a strong in-house design competency and a design-lead ethos in our approach and therefore our people across the company.
This in-house design strength allows us to provide the critical components that complete client designs and with a complete production capability then support our clients at every stage of product development, through to the finished item.
Being established to exploit the commercial potential of our technology, we have deliberately pursued R&D connections and collaborations with some of the leading engineering and academic institutions, where we have embedded research staff.
At Cambridge University we have one of our staff permanently embedded on campus and a relationship going back to the company’s inception. We have sponsored a number of doctoral candidates, as well as working with the engineering department on a wide range of projects, for Oil and Gas based technologies through Aerospace to the application of RolaTube’s in Civil Engineering structures and “Smart Monitoring” of key infrastructure.
We are working with Surrey University’s Space Centre on a range of satellite applications and are partners in the current European Framework 7 project with them and NASA, EADS Astrium, DLR (the German space research centre) and a number of other high profile commercial and academic organisations.
We encourage the next generation of designers and engineers by working closely with them as students. We currently have an intern working in-house from the materials science group at Loughborough University, we have on-going projects with Glasgow University’s industrial and engineering design department and a long-standing relationship with the industrial design engineering post-graduate course run by Imperial college London and the Royal College of Art. This later relationship has now born fruit with a designer who began working with us as part of his studies going on to develop a novel product (the Kwickscreen) based on our technology and successfully commercialise his dream.
Alongside our designers and researchers, we have always had a manufacturing facility to create new rolatube prototypes, with the required process and production technicians.
Our staff are mostly drawn from similar high-tech SME businesses, with direct experience of the energy, defence and aerospace sectors.
